🌍 Travel FAQ for Foreigners in Poland (Non-EU Citizens)

If you’re a non-EU citizen living in Poland and planning to join a YeloFun trip, please review these key notes about residence status and travel.

I am waiting for my Karta Pobytu and have a stamp (stempel) in my passport. Can I travel outside Poland?

No. The stamp confirms that your stay in Poland is legal while your application is being processed, but it does not grant you the right to travel to other Schengen countries or re-enter Poland. To travel within Schengen or return to Poland, you must have a valid visa or a physical residence card.

Can I leave Poland and come back while my residence permit is processing?

Only if you have a valid D-type visa or are within your visa-free travel days (Schengen 90/180 rule). If your visa has expired and you only have the stamp, you can leave Poland (e.g., to go to your home country), but you will not be allowed back into Poland/Schengen without obtaining a new visa from a Polish consulate abroad.

Does the stamp keep me legal in Poland if my visa expires?

Yes. As long as you applied for your permit before your previous legal stay ended, the stamp allows you to stay in Poland legally until a final decision is made. However, this legality is restricted to Polish territory only.

I received a positive decision (Decyzja), but I don’t have the physical card yet. Can I travel?

Highly Risky / Not Recommended. A “Decyzja” is an administrative document, not a travel document. Border guards in other Schengen countries (like Germany, France, or Czechia) generally do not recognize a Polish decision letter. You should wait for the physical plastic card before crossing any international borders.
Traveling Within Schengen

What documents do I need for short trips inside the Schengen area?

You must carry the originals of:
* Valid Passport
* Valid Residence Card (Karta Pobytu) OR a Valid D-type Visa.

Can border checks happen inside the Schengen zone?

Yes. While there are usually no fixed border booths, “random” or “temporary” checks by police and border guards are common on international buses and trains. If you are caught without a valid residence card or visa, you risk detention, fines, and deportation.
YeloFun Trip Guidelines

What documents must I bring on a YeloFun trip?

You must bring your physical passport and your physical residence card/visa. Digital copies or photos on your phone are not legally sufficient for international travel.

What is the safest option if I am unsure of my status?

If you only have a stamp in your passport and no valid visa, the safest option is to only join our domestic tours within Poland (e.g., Zakopane, Gdańsk, Wrocław). Do not book international trips until you have your physical card.

Who provides the final authority on my travel rights?

For case-specific questions, contact the Polish Border Guard (Straż Graniczna) or a certified immigration lawyer. YeloFun is not responsible for travelers denied entry or detained due to missing/expired documentation.
